DESCRIPTION

Cosmetologists primarily cut, style, color, chemically relax and perm hair. They also perform facials, waxing, pedicures, manicures and apply artificial nails. Cosmetologists use their talent to enhance customers' appearance.

WORK CONDITIONS

Cosmetologists generally work in professional salons that are well lit and ventilated. A cosmetologist can be salaried, rent a chair or maintain their own client base. Certain chemicals used in the field may be irritants to sensitive individuals. Evenings and weekends are usually the most busy.
