AVIATION MECHANICSDESCRIPTION Aviation mechanics perform scheduled maintenance inspections and repairs. They are responsible for meeting FAA guidelines and safety standards for aircraft. Aviation mechanics are certified as an airplane mechanic, power plant mechanic or combination known as an A&P mechanic. WORK CONDITIONS An aviation mechanic is subject to extremes in climate. Vibrations and noise from engines can be an irritant. Scheduling aircraft is important, so repairs and maintenance must be completed efficiently. Therefore, stress is a factor in this occupation.
