AVIATION CAREER-PROFESSIONAL PILOTDESCRIPTION Pilots are extensively trained individuals who fly planes and helicopters, both for private and commercial use. Pilots are also responsible for making sure the engine, controls and instruments all operate properly. WORK CONDITIONS Flying an aircraft is demanding and stressful, therefore, commercial pilots are not permitted to fly more than 100 hours a month or 1,000 hours per year. Pilots who fly international routes are often subject to jet lag. TRAITS COMMON TO SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS 1. Good Physical Condition (Pilots need to pass a strict physical exam) 2. Good Hearing 3.
