Postsecondary Transitioning Resources for Students with Disabilities - The U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, has posted two letters to provide information about the legal rights of students with disabilities as they transition from high school to postsecondary education institutions.

Transition Planning Timeline is a reference list indicating key ages to address typical transition planning needs.

Transition Planning Inventory for Students and Families is a form to help students and parents sit down to identify their future plans prior to attending transition planning meetings.

Planning for the Future, a guide from the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council that addresses financial and guardianship planning for persons with developmental disabilities.

 

Vocational Rehabilitation Services for High School Students - Q & A for Parents is a brochure for parents of students with disabilities available in both Spanish and English which provides information about VESIDs vocational rehabilitation services.

Talking Book and Braille Library is the service that helpsindividuals obtain talking books, including equipment and texts.

Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know Your Rights and Responsibilities (U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights Washington, D.C. 20202)- an on-line pamphlet that explains the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities who are preparing to attend postsecondary schools. This pamphlet also explains the obligations of a postsecondary school to provide academic adjustments, including auxiliary aids and services, to ensure that the school does not discriminate on the basis of disability. 

Map and Resource Directory, as presented by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, provides information about services available on a local level in New York State for people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
