Electronic Filing of Applications for Placement in Approved Private Schools  for Students with Disabilities

Effective July 1, 2005, applications for reimbursement for placement in an approved private school for a student with a disability must be submitted electronically.  Paper applications will not be accepted.  Filing electronically has been available since the 2000-01 school year and most school districts use this format.  Electronic applications are quicker and more accurate than the current paper process, processed in real-time and result in immediate approval when all required items are entered correctly.  The Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) will be notifying those few school districts that do not file electronic applications for reimbursement for approved private school placements that they must use the electronic filing system by July 1, 2005.  If your school district has not done so, please contact the STAC and Special Aids Unit (518-474-7116), omsstac@mail.nysed.gov or on the web at http://www.oms.nysed.gov/stac for information and technical assistance regarding the STAC online system and how to obtain a valid user code and password to input STAC-1 data.
