Parent/Family Services

NYSSD Parent/Family Services

NYSSD provides outreach services to parents, siblings and families of deaf and hard of hearing students. This includes many opportunities to network with other parents/families, gain more knowledge of deafness and parenting issues, learn sign language, connect with appropriate outside services and receive support in all areas. Here are some of the continuing activities available at NYSSD through the Parent/Family Services Office:

  • COFFEE CLUB - An informal opportunity to chat with other parents in a relaxed setting.

  • PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (PAC) - This committee is comprised of parents who participate in meetings that focus on student education and communication with families. First PAC meeting of the school year coming up in October.

  • SIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION (in home or in a group at the school)

  • PARENT DAY and FAMILY DAY - These are 2 opportunities to participate in a day at NYSSD.

  • NYSSD CIRCLE - The quarterly newsletter keeping parents up to date on the many happenings at NYSSD.
