 Television Production Workshop

The Television Production Workshop is a high technology work site, which provides the opportunity for NYSSD students to acquire the technical competence necessary to operate television production equipment. Students are provided instruction in the set-up, use and care of cameras, lighting equipment, tripods, microphones, VCRs, and editing equipment. The Hearing-Impaired Visual Information System (HIVIS) permits the program director to give commands to the camera technicians with a touch-screen computer generated program.

Using an "in house" television channel, the Workshop provides a daily visual summary of announcements for staff and students, which can be updated at any time. Elementary students produce a weekly news program that is aired each Friday. As requested by staff, student workers provide educational videotapes, which are down-linked from satellite or cable television stations.
