Deaf Infant Program

The Deaf Infant program services children and their families between the ages of birth and three years old. A teacher of the deaf works in the child’s home to assist the child in developing important skills, as well as the parents in understanding and enabling them to work with their deaf child.

The program, which is based on the SKI*HI Model, also includes a weekly center-based program for the child and their family. This program includes services to the child by school personnel, such as speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy, sign language classes, and a support group for the parents and extended family members.

The program works closely with other agencies, such as Early Intervention, as well as the NYSSD Parent/Family Services Coordinator and additional support staff at NYSSD. For more information, please contact the Elementary Department Head at 315-337-8400, Ext 8445.
