From the West, North and South
(Syracuse, Watertown and Binghamton)
NY State Thruway to Exit 33 (Verona).
As you exit the toll both, bear right onto Route 365 East toward Rome.
Proceed approximately 9 miles. You will see the Oneida/Mohawk Correctional Facilities
on your right. You want to be in the left lane and follow the sign that reads "South
James Street" onto the indented left turn controlled by a traffic light.
Turn left onto South James Street and continue driving through the railroad tunnel,
over the bridge, and continue on to the traffic light on the corner. (The Quality Inn will
be on your left).
You will proceed across a four-lane highway, onto North James Street. Continue on for
approximately 4 traffic lights to the intersection of North James and Turin Street. There
will be a gas station on the right and a Byrne Dairy Store in front of you and to the
left.
Turn left onto Turin Street (Route 26N) and proceed to the intersection of Turin and
North Madison Streets (the third traffic light). Just beyond this intersection on the left
is the entrance to the New York State School for the Deaf.
The administration building is straight ahead with dual flagpoles in the front. Upon
entering the building, please stop at the business office to register and obtain a
visitors pass.
From the East (Albany)
NY State Thruway to Exit 32
(Westmoreland)
Turn right after exit, then right again onto Route 233 toward Rome.
Continue on Route 233 into Rome. Route 233 becomes Martin St. Continue on Martin St. to
the end.
Turn Right onto S. James St., continue driving through the railroad tunnel, over the
bridge, and continue on to the traffic light on the corner. (The Quality Inn will be on
your left).
