Providing a Quality Education for Children with Visual Impairments and Additional Disabilities |
The board of visitors is appointed by the governor of the State of New York.
Charles Ruffino, President(as established by Section 4403 of Title 6 of the New York State Education Law)
The NYS School for the Blind Board of Visitors shall visit and inspect such school, recommend the appointment and approve the removal of a superintendent of such school and have such other powers and duties as may be required or authorized by the board of regents.

To provide funds for the activities and personal needs of blind students and equipment and supplies for their extracurricular activities, including, without limitation, entertainment, instruction, recreation, athletics, vocational and social training, and any activities which will help to maintain or improve the physical health and mental well-being of such students, when funds are not otherwise readily available from other sources or budgeted for such use.
Local Lions Clubs maintain a strong, ongoing and supportive relationship with the school and the students. Over the years many projects have been initiated collaboratively, including construction of our famous Sensory Park. We look forward to our continuing relationships.
