The goal of the speech and Language program at the New York State School for the Blind is to provide an opportunity for each student to develop an effective mode of communication.

  1. sensory awareness
  2. attending skills
  3. motor imitation
  4. auditory processing skills
  5. vocabulary acquisition
  6. all stages of expressive and receptive language development
  7. alternative methods of communication.
The Speech and language Program at the New York State School for the blind is premised on the philosophy that all students have a right to communicate and deserve our best professional efforts to help them achieve that end.
