Adapted Physical Education is an educational program that focuses on each student individually while being taught in a small group setting of 5 to 7 students. all of the basic fitness components are addressed, as well as locomotion skills, balancing, playing ball games, team work, manipulative skills such as throwing, catching, dribbling, and other skills which enhance both gross and fine motor development, are also emphasized.

Students work on kicking, stroke work, submerging, and for some students, swimming is used primarily for therapeutic reasons. Our program at NYSSB focus on each individual student to develop their physical abilities and confidence.
