Timelines to Complete Evaluation
Must be completed within 60 calendar days of receiving parental consent (or timeline within 60 days as established by the state).
Exceptions
Transfer students when evaluation began in prior district.
When parent repeatedly fails or refuses to produce child for evaluation.

IDEA requires that an initial evaluation be completed within 60 calendar days from receiving parental consent for the evaluation.
There are two exceptions to the 60 calendar day timeline to complete the evaluation. If the student transfers from one LEA to another during the evaluation period, and the new LEA is progressing to ensure the completion of the evaluation, the parent and the new LEA can agree to another time when the evaluation will be completed.
The second exception to the timeline is when a parent fails to or refuses to make the student available for the evaluation.
