The navigation buttons on the left will expand as additional sections are converted. For your convenience, two essential buttons "Special Education" and "Independent Living and Lifelong Services" will navigate you to material not yet converted.

Features

Preferences

View the site in different formats by using the preferences at the top right - Preferences Demo (view a demonstration or read the instructions and features in the outline below)

Full graphics - the menu appears on the left with full color and graphics throughout the site - this will be the most popular view
Full screen - the content will fill the entire screen and the menu appears at the bottom
- use for viewing large tables or reports
- use for a blackberry or other PDA device
High contrast - the content will fill the entire screen on a black background and the menu appears at the bottom
No graphics - the content will fill the entire screen and the menu appears at the bottom

Individuals with certain disabilities and appropriate technical knowledge may also apply their own style sheet (css) to view the information

Menus - Tree Style

Expand or collapse the menu at the left to view related information. Information is organized by similar or related topics. Select a main button to view various topics within that area.

For example if you are viewing a policy about due process, an expanded menu will show there is a policy, procedure and charts for due process. The menu that wraps it will show other policies of potential interest.

At the top of the menu are Expand All | Collapse All options to view the main links or everything available.

Search Features

A search box is available to search the entire site. Within some areas, there are additional search options which will return only pages within that section of the web.

Using due process again as an example, you may come across the word eligibility. Instead of searching the entire VESID site, you could search just the policies and procedures.

Consistent Headings

Headings on each page will look the same and will appear in a standard order (helpful for screen readers as well as viewing). For example, a heading 3 would never appear under a heading 1; it could only appear under a heading 2.
