Some criteria to identify school
districts for Chapter 405 issues were revised in 2002-03 compared to
criteria used for 2000-01.
- In 2000-01, 86 school districts
were identified for having classification rates of 15 percent or
higher. In 2002-03, 102 school districts were identified based on
the same criteria, except that school districts with less than 75
students with disabilities were not notified.
- In 2000-01, 45 school districts
were notified for having preschool declassification rates of 5
percent or lower. In 2002-03, 32 school districts were notified
based on the same criteria, except that school districts with less
than 75 students with disabilities were not notified.
- In 2000-01, 82 school districts
were notified for having school-age declassification rates of 1.5
percent or lower. In 2002-03, 100 school districts were notified
based on the same criteria, except that school districts with less
than 75 students with disabilities were not notified.
- In 2000-01, 117 school districts
were notified for placing 10 percent or more school-age students
with disabilities in separate settings. In 2002-03, 164 school
districts were notified for placing 6 percent or more school-age
students with disabilities in separate settings, but only if they
had an enrollment of more than 75 students with disabilities.
- In 2000-01, 218 school districts
were notified for having data that indicated disproportionality,
based on race/ethnicity, in the classification of students as
disabled or in the identification of students by particular
disabilities. In 2002-03, 144 school districts received such
notification, but only if the disproportionality was for minority
students and only if school districts had an enrollment of more
than 75 students with disabilities.
- In 2000-01, 6 school districts
were notified for having data that indicated disproportionality,
based on race/ethnicity, in the placement of preschool students
with disabilities in separate settings. In 2002-03, 2 school
districts received such notification, but only if the
disproportionality was for minority students and only if school
districts had an enrollment of more than 75 students with
disabilities.
- In 2000-01, 103 school districts
were notified for having data that indicated disproportionality,
based on race/ethnicity, in the placement of school-age students
with disabilities in particular settings. In 2002-03, 88 school
districts received such notification, but only if the
disproportionality was for minority students and only if school
districts had an enrollment of more than 75 students with
disabilities.
