Long-Term suspensions are out-of-school suspensions for 10 or more school days.

**

See Appendix 38 for a definition of Need/Resource Capacity categories of school districts.

The suspension rate is computed by dividing the number of students suspended during the school year by the December 1 enrollment of school-age students with disabilities.

  • The data above indicate that the vast majority of school districts (72.2%) have a long-term suspension rate of less than 1 percent, 14.7 percent of school districts have a rate between 1 and 2 percent, 10.6 percent of school districts have a rate between 2 and 4 percent and 2.5 percent of school districts have a rate greater than 4 percent.
