for Black and Hispanic Students
Represented in Special Education
Compared to their Total Enrollment

 

   

The percentage point gap by which Black students are over represented in special education compared to their total enrollment remained the same in the 2002-03 school year compared to the previous school year. For Hispanic students the gap continued to narrow.

The gap in overrepresentation of Black and Hispanic students in special education compared to their percentage in the total enrollment has decreased over the last four years. Compared to 2001-02, in 2002-03 the gap for Black students remained the same at 4.4 percentage points, however the gap for Hispanic students decreased by a tenth of one percent from 2.4 to 2.3 percent.
