New York State surpasses the national rate of placing school-age students with disabilities in general education classrooms for 80 percent or more of the school day. More than one of every two school-age students with disabilities (51.1 percent) attended general education programs for 80 percent or more of the school day. New York’s rate is 4.6 percentage points higher than the 2000-2001 national average of 46.5 percent.
