FINANCIAL INCENTIVES AND SERVICES FOR BUSINESSES
Mid Hudson VESID, an office of the New York State Education Department, serves the
counties of Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan. Each year VESID offers
thousands of New Yorkers who have a disability an opportunity to become independent
through education, training and employment. For more information on how to apply for VESID

For employers, VESID can provide you with pre-screened qualified candidates for your
job openings. We have candidates with a wide range of education and skill levels.
Let us help you fill your placement requirements, and take advantage of the array of
services and incentives that can be provided to your business which can add up to $15,000 or more per individual hired.
MINIMAL AMOUNT OF PAPERWORK – FREE SERVICES
INCLUDE:
WORK OPPORTUNITY TAX
CREDIT:
Provides employers with a Federal tax credit up to $2400. |
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
(EMPIRE ZONE) TAX CREDITS:
Provides certified employers, whose business is located in the economic development
zone, a N.Y. State tax credit up to $15,000 over 5 years |
WORKERS WITH DISABILITIES
EMPLOYMENT TAX CREDIT:
Provides employers with a N.Y. State tax credit up to $2100. |
BUILDING MODIFICATION TAX
CREDITS:
Employers of leased or owned companies can claim Federal tax credits when they meet ADA
standards for building modifications to accommodate persons with disabilities. |
WORK TRY OUT:
Provides employers with 100% wage reimbursement for the first four weeks of employment
to evaluate a worker's performance. |
ON SITE TECHNICAL
ASSISTANCE:
VESID can provide retraining and or job modifications to eligible employees who become
injured and disabled. VESID services can also include work capacity skills assessment and
job restructuring recommendations. |
ON THE JOB TRAINING:
Reimburses the worker's salary, on a sliding scale for a period of time while employee
is being trained by the employer. |
