Occupation: Community Work Incentives Coordinator

Scott is an individual with multiple disabilities who was referred to VESID by his special education counselor.  Since Scott’s case was opened, VESID has provided a neuropsychological evaluation, guidance and counseling, training at a post secondary institution, career exploration, assistive technology evaluation and job placement services.   Scott has been able to benefit from all the above VESID services to maintain his current job as a Community Work Incentives Coordinator at an Independent Living Center.

Due to the complex demands of Scott’s job, it was essential for Scott to come to VESID for additional supports and services.  With advances in technology, Scott realized that he might handle further studies, hence his desire in reaching for a further degree.  Scott is considering reaching up the career ladder in pursing an advanced degree. 

In his present position, Scott shared that he is referring consumers to VESID for assessments, assistive technology, school, and job development. He feels that VESID fills a gap that no other agency was able to provide for him, and his passion is to share that message.  Scott is looking toward a career as a social worker and is furthering his education to achieve that goal.   

What Scott doesn’t fully appreciate is that his function of role model is already an immeasurable gift to people with disabilities.  Promise, motivation, inspiration ~ Scott’s story tells it all!
