How to Apply for Services

An applicant receiving an applicationEach Tuesday we have three Orientation sessions: they will begin promptly at 9:30, 11:30 and 2:30. These are "walk-in" sessions, so no appointment is needed. Brooklyn residents who are interested in VESID services to help them go to work may come to any session on Tuesday.

The Orientation is at the New York State Office Building, 55 Hanson Place, Brooklyn in the First Floor Conference Room. The room is open 30 minutes before each session. People should be seated at least 15 minutes before the session begins.

Anyone who arrives late will not be seated. There will be no exceptions to this rule, because it is important for an Applicant to hear the full presentation.

  • Applicants should know their Social Security Number and bring a pen to fill out application forms.

  • After the Orientation, the Applicant will be given a packet which includes forms to be
completed by the person’s doctor or treatment program. The Applicant will be responsible for collecting the completed forms and then calling the VESID office to arrange an appointment with our Eligibility Counselor.

  • Once an Applicant has met with the Eligibility Counselor and is found to be eligible for services, he/she will be assigned a VESID counselor. This counselor will make an appointment with the individual, and together they will begin planning vocational services.

If you have any questions about this procedure, please call (718/722-6700). Callers will get information on the application process and will be transferred as appropriate.
